I goes on and probably won’t stop /
It goes on and on and on and on /
And it probably won’t stop till the day that I drop /
(At least I’ll leave something behind) /
It goes on and probably won’t stop /
It goes on and on and on and on /
And it probably won’t stop till the day that I drop /
(Welcome to the inside).
I've always seen it is as a hobby and a passion, not a trend and not a fashion /
Never worried where my sound sits /
I've dealt with people sneering, not quite used to what hearing /
Cos they miss the whole idea that it's an outlet /
And I never seemed the type to fit the cliche of the hype /
And of the whole entire stigma that surrounds it /
When almost everybody seems to say you have to speak a certain way /
And live a certain type of life, me I doubt it /
So I skirt around the subject when at work or out in public /
Cos I've learned it's rare that people understand /
That this blank white sheet of paper is my hope and it's my saviour /
How I cope and it's for me and never wrote for any fans /
If I tell you what I'm doing why'd you think that's it's amusing /
When it's no different to a singing in a band /
When they find out how I pass the time they put me on the spot /
And I get asked to rhyme like I should just do it on demand.
I suppose you lose your relevance and grow out of your element /
To turn into the elephant that it's in the room /
Standing out against all of the younger kids but theres a fire in that belly /
Where the hunger lives, so I'm confused /
There’s hardly any rappers that I like amid a scene that’s full /
Of spite cos everybody on the mic is insecure /
No wonder that it seems strange when you meet James /
And discover that he raps then you laugh cos you’re not sure /
If it’s a joke or it’s a parody, apparently it has to be /
When actually my sanity and strength to see with clarity /
Can only come from writing this, and I’ve spent half a lifetime fighting this /
I know you doubted that I’d ever be as nice as this /
But I’m proud to be the underdog /
David beat Goliath and I’m soon to be the one to watch /
So if you meet me and discover that I rap /
It’s cool, I’ll explain, relax.
